About Beavers:

Beavers are North America's largest rodents and nature's most impressive engineers! These semi-aquatic mammals can weigh 35-70 pounds and measure 3-4 feet long including their distinctive paddle-shaped tail. Beavers are famous for building dams and lodges using branches, logs, and mud—some dams can be over 2,000 feet long! These structures create wetland habitats that benefit countless other species, making beavers "ecosystem engineers." Beavers are slow on land but are excellent swimmers and can stay underwater for up to 15 minutes while holding their breath! They have transparent eyelids that act like goggles and can close their ears and nostrils underwater. Beavers have powerful orange teeth that never stop growing—they gnaw on trees constantly to keep them trimmed. Their teeth have special enamel that contains iron, making them incredibly strong and giving them their orange color! Beavers are herbivores that eat bark, leaves, and aquatic plants. They mate for life and live in family groups in their lodges. Beavers were once nearly extinct due to fur trapping but have made a remarkable recovery. They're symbols of hard work and environmental stewardship!

Manufactured in China. CollectA's Woodlands Series celebrates ecosystem engineers and wetland conservation. Jack's has a long standing history of being a Blue Ribbon Breyer dealer since 1994. Ages 3+
